Make a Pledge
"And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces." Luke 9:16-17, NRSV
More than Enough is the theme of this year's stewardship campaign. It comes from the gospel story of Jesus' feeding of five thousand people. Sometimes we think the miracle is that Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fish, however another interpretation is that the “miracle” is one of generosity. Responding to Jesus’ call, the people in the crowd turn out their pockets, shake out their blankets, and look through their parcels to find enough to meet the needs of the community - more than enough really as they had twelve full baskets leftover. In our annual stewardship, we gather the gifts of our community and it is enough – enough to fund our operations and an abundance more to take care of our neighbors and plan for the future. It starts with prayerfully making a generous pledge according to one's ability - by doing so, we will have enough to be the welcoming, life-changing spiritual community God calls us to be.
